iCAN Residency Yogyakarta
Helen Marshall began the project with an Artist Residency in Yogyakarta hosted by iCAN, Indonesia Contemporary Art Network. This led to the collaborative and intervention lens based work between herself & Risang Yuwono and the Ketoprak Tobong. Indonesia Contemporary Art Network (iCAN) promotes multidisciplinary dialogues between the visual arts and other divisions of the arts and sciences through art projects, research, and education. They also work with institutions, art spaces, and people who share our vision (e.g., artists, writers, researchers) to organise and realise their projects. During her residency she enabled the start of collaborative work with local social enterprise communities. She also worked with Risang Yuwono and the Ketoprak Tobong to create the photo shoots, artwork, documentation and video.
